The Fairfax County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association is pleased to present its 2020 annual report which highlighted the accomplishments of the county volunteer fire service with emphasis on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing additional resources to support the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFRD).
Highlights include over 153,000 hours of service by over 700 volunteers in the provision of fire and emergency medical services and community outreach to the residents of and visitors to Fairfax County. In additional to responding to calls and community outreach, they partnered with Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and the Department of Agriculture Food for Families program Fire and Rescue volunteers supported 43 humanitarian food distribution events, distributing 1.5 million pounds of food to 80,000 needy families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
