Annandale, Va. — The Fairfax County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association joins the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department in mourning the loss of Raju Khemani, who died Aug. 13 after battling a cancerous brain tumor.
The news was first announced in a joint statement from Annandale Fire Chief Roger Waller and Vice President Gary Moore to county volunteers, saying: “It is with extreme sadness that we inform you of the passing of our President and Life Member, and more importantly, our friend, Raju.”
“He was fortunate to be loved by many, and the family and our members would not have been able to make it through without your love, your prayers and support,” the statement said. “Everyone fondly remembered what a full and giving life he led.”
Khemani was also treasurer for the FCVFRA, a partnership of the 12 volunteer fire and rescue companies in Fairfax County.
