Fairfax, Va. — You may notice a recent enhancement to the Fairfax County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association website in the upper right corner which instantly tranforms the website into a resource for non-English speakers.
The “translate” button uses Google Translate to present the website in any of 65 different languages. The very diverse community served includes many households where (for example) first generation children may be fluent in English, but their parents may only be fluent in their native language.
“We want to be sure our message can reach everyone who may support volunteering, including the families of potential volunteers,” commented FCVFRA President Jonathan Wood.
To use the function:
– Simply click on “Translate,”
– Then use the “View this page in:” function to select a language
– And then click “Translate.”
The page will appear in that language.
